FreeComicsCover1More than 2000 comic shops in 60 countries participate, including seven stores in our area. More than 4.5 million copies of 50 special titles are made available to be given away to those who visit a participating retailer. The event was founded by ComicsPRO board member and retailer Joe Field as a way to introduce new readers to comics, while calling back former readers and thanking current fans.

FreeComicBookDay.com asked local artist/writer Ed Piskor where he would be tomorrow.

FreeComicCoverTransEP: My friend and practically neighbor, Tom Scioli, is drawing the IDW FCBD comic Transformers vs. GI Joe, so we're making a sojourn to The Beguiling in Toronto to have our signing. That's one of the best shops on the continent. If I didn't draw this book I would be making a local tour of all the Pittsburgh shops to spend lots of money. First Eides, then Copacetic Comics, then Phantom of the Attic."

This year’s list of comics include: Guardians of the Galaxy, Archie, Hello Kitty, Spongebob Squarepants, Transformers vs. GI Joe, Sonic the Hedgehog, the Smurfs and many more fun-filled comics!  A complete list can be found at www.freecomicbookday.com/comics.
