NPR Music is looking for bands/solo artists to participate in its Tiny Desk Concert Contest.

It looks like you will have about a one-in-6,000 shot, but there's a chance of additional exposure if your entry is exceptional.

Bands and musicians are invited to submit original video entries to NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest from Jan. 12 to Feb. 2  at

The winner will perform as part of the series and take part in a U.S. tour with NPR Music with stops at NPR’s Ask Me Another program, Lagunitas breweries in Petaluma, Calif., and Chicago, and Portland, Ore.

Musicians interested in entering must play one original song at a desk (any desk), upload a video of the performance to YouTube and submit with the entry form at All genres are encouraged. Artists must be at least 21 years old, live in the U.S. and be available to travel to Washington, D.C., between March 7-9 to record their Tiny Desk Concerts performance at NPR Headquarters and tour in spring 2016.

A panel of musicians from the Tiny Desk roster – Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and The Arcs, Lucius ladies Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, and soul artist Son Little – will join All Songs Considered hosts Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton in selecting one Contest winner, to be announced in March 2016. Throughout the three-week submission period and afterwards, NPR Music will also feature select video entries on the Contest Tumblr.

During its inaugural run last year, the challenge received entries from nearly 6,000 submissions. The winner was Oakland, Calif., blues musician Fantastic Negrito who has now performed at SXSW, SummerStage and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.
