A Jamboree week for The Stickers

Written by Scott Mervis on .

cma2013A beach, a jamboree and a county fair — all in a week for The Stickers, one of Pittsburgh’s premier country bands.

The band of brothers played in Ocean City, Md., Wednesday and is shooting right over to Belmont, Ohio, Thursday for the Jamboree in the Hills, where it opens the main stage for the likes of Miranda Lambert, Dwight Yoakam and Chris Young.

You thought Kenny Chesney was a long tailgate...

“Country music fans really bring it at Jamboree,” says The Stickers’ John Wodarek, who is joined by brothers Jim and Joe. “The fans take tailgating to another level. They arrive on Sunday and the shows don’t start until Thursday! By the time we get there they are ready to party.”

He says that when the gates open, “It’s the East Coast’s version of the running of the bulls without the bulls. It is great to see the passion of country music fans.”

The Stickers come home on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for a free concert at the South Park Amphitheater as part of the county concert series. The band promises to roll out some new songs for its hometown gig.

On Saturday, the band heads to Wind Ridge for the Jacktown Fair.

Along with the crazy touring schedule, The Stickers have been traveling back and forth to Nashville, where the band is recording new material at RPM Records.

“We are really excited to get the new music out to everyone,” Mr, Wodarek says. “This process has been such a great learning experience for us. It has helped us to hone our skills and take our talents to another level.”
