It's no secret that Mac Miller has made a few dollars in this rap game, enough to buy a mansion in Los Angeles for himself and his crew.
He also loves movies -- his forthcoming album is called "Watching Movies with the Sound Off" -- and the Point Breeze native briefly lived in an apartment across from Allderdice and up the street from the Squirrel Hill Theater, which has been closed for three years.
In one of the episodes of his new reality series, "Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family," debuting Feb. 26 at 11:30 p.m. on MTV2, he visits the theater as a potential buyer. Miller tours the facility with a real estate agent, talking about how he would love to reopen it as a theater, restaurant and clothing store.
Inside, everything is intact, from the projectors to the seats to the ticket box, which still holds torn tickets for the movie "A Single Man."
There is a scene where the rapper sits down with his architect father and designer brother to talk about whether to make the $2.4 million purchase a family project.
The scene was shot in November and he hasn't made a move on the theater since then. Miller is busy with touring and completion of the sophomore album, so according to a source, the theater is not "in the Top 5" on his list of things to do right now.
Mac Miller's Movie Theater might be something to watch out for in the future though.
