Thurston Moore coming with new project Chelsea Light Moving
Pittsburgh will get its first look at a post-Sonic Youth Thurston Moore on April 2.
The noise-rock pioneer will turn up at Mr. Smalls with his new project Chelsea Light Moving, made up guitarist Keith Wood and multi-instrumenalist Samara Lubelski (from avant-folk group Hush Arbors) and drummer John Moloney (Sunburned Hand of the Man).
Chelsea Light Moving will release its debut album on March 5 on Matador, which describes the band as "ready to detonate any birthday party, wedding or hullaboo in any country, planet or stratosphere that doesn't support right wing extremist NRA sucking bozo-ology."
Sonic Youth's 30-run was halted in late 2011 with the separation of Moore and wife Kim Gordon.
