Identity Thief steals box office 1st place

Even the blizzard that ate part of the box office grosses (in the Northeast) couldn’t stop “Identity Thief” from landing in the No. 1 spot. 
 
The storm stopped some moviegoers on Friday and, definitely, Saturday when theaters were closed but the Melissa McCarthy-Jason Bateman comedy grossed an estimated $36,592,650, according to early estimates from hollywood.com.
 
Here are the figures released today: 
 
1. “Identity Thief” — $36,592,650.
2. “Warm Bodies” — $11,500,000, bringing its North American total to $36,652,082. 
3. “Side Effects” — $10,015,000.
4. “Silver Linings Playbook” — $6,908,000, nudging its 13-week figure to $90,002,239.
5. “Hansel and Gretel:  Witch Hunters” — $5,750,000, for $43,833,000.
6. “Mama” — $4,323,355, for $64,045,500 to date. 
7. “Zero Dark Thirty” — $4,000,000, bringing its gross to $83,600,000. 
8. “Argo” — $2,500,000, for $123,734,000 to date. 
9. “Django Unchained” — $2,288,000, for $154,501,132 since Christmas. 
10. “Bullet to the Head” — $1,980,000, for an anemic $8,171,000. 
11. “Top Gun 3-D/IMAX” — $1,900,000.
