Oscar throws lunch for nominees, Quvenzhane meets Denzel and more

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences threw a lunch for its current crop of Oscar nominees today at the Beverly Hilton. Seventeen of the 20 nominees in the acting categories were expected among 160-plus nominees. Quvenzhane Wallis, 9, shook hands with Denzel Washington — this is her first Oscar season thanks to "Beasts of the Southern Wild," his sixth — and was greeted by Academy President Hawk Koch.
Supporting actress nominees — Sally Field, Amy Adams, Jacki Weaver, Anne Hathaway and Helen Hunt — took a group shot and Jennifer Lawrence chatted with Hugh Jackman while director Ang Lee was snapped with Jessica Chastain.
Bradley Cooper talked with Christoph Waltz.
The Oscars will be handed out Feb. 24 in Hollywood.
