Written by Andrew Druckenbrod on .

Chatham Baroque will add to its robust history of touring with an upcoming visit to Ecuador!

From the presser:

Chatham Baroque has been invited to participate in the 12th annual International Festival of Sacred Music in Quito, Ecuador on March 24 and 25. This marks the ensemble’s first trip to Ecuador. For this tour, Chatham Baroque will present a program centered on Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, an epic lament for soprano, alto, strings and continuo. The Chatham Baroque trio will be joined by Mary Wilson, soprano, Ian Howell, countertenor, Dawn Posey, violin, Kristen Linfante, viola, and Alan Lewis, harpsichord.  This was last performed by Chatham Baroque in February 2010 on their 2009-2010 Pittsburgh concert series.

Beginning on March 17th, the festival will include lectures, masterclasses and performances in churches, at the National Conservatory of Music, and the Theatre Variety Ernesto Albán. The festival is a blend of traditional sacred music and contemporary religious works, which will showcase high caliber artists from around the world.
